Central Govt New DA 7% from July 2014

The Union Cabinet has approved the hike of 7% DA (Dearness Allowance) for Central Govt Employees and Pensioners. The cabinet has approved the release of an additional installment of DA to all the Central Government employees. 7% DR (Dearness Relief) hike is applicable for pensioners with effect from 1st July 2014. With this hike, DA will be 107% of the basic pay from July 2014. UPA government had increased DA to 100 % from 90 % with effect from January 1, 2014. About 30,00,000 employees and 50,00,000 pensioners and dependents will be benefited from this hike. DA (dearness allowance) is worked out on the basis of 12 month average of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW)
