EPFO Rs1000 Minimum Monthly Pension from 1st September 2014

Rs1000 Minimum Pension Scheme under Employees' Pension Scheme 1995 will be started from 1st September 2014. This Rs1000 Pension Scheme is run by the EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organization). 37 Central Ministers, and MPs will be launching this Rs 1,000 minimum monthly pension today. About 28,00,000 pensioners will be benefited from this scheme. These people have been getting a pension under Rs1000 till today. Some of them getting only Rs500/month. The NDA Government has already announced the hike of minimum pension. The NDA Government had made amendments to the Employee Pension Scheme-95. So that the government can give a minimum monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to beneficiaries under the scheme.At present there are about half crore people getting pension from the EPFO. Among them about 13,00000 pensioners getting only Rs500 or less as pension.

Recently EPFO has launched a SMS based service for the benefit of all members registered for them. Pensioners can check their pension balance through an SMS. To check the balance, pensioner need to visit the official website http://www.epfindia.com/MembBal.html. After opening official website, they have to select their EPFO office where their PF account is maintained. After selecting PF Office, they have to enter their PF Account number.

The PF account number format is ( State/Establishment code/Account number) ex: TN/67895/98756.
After entering Name and Mobile Number, they have to click on the I agree the terms and conditions button. Then pensioners will get SMS alert of their pension balance.
